Fontainebleau Anglican Church
18, Boulevard Maginot
77300 Fontainebleau.
As you can see from the maps below, the chapel is situated just off
boulevard Maginot, the road leading from Paris to the Fontainebleau
chateau, on the premises of Lycee Jeanne d'Arc Saint Aspais. A back
entrance is available in rue de Fleury, with parking spots on Sundays. To
find us, enter the lycee from Bd. Maginot through the green gate and
walk down towards the chapel on your left, at the other end of the
premises.
We don't look like a church from the outside - more like a school
playground, of course, but don't let that put you off!

Now
The best way to be fully integrated in our church family is to get
actively involved in one of our areas of ministry. We encourage you
to try your hand at something, maybe from the extensive list below
or from the more limited Sunday rota service list:

Our Origins and Purpose
We are part of the Paris
Anglican chaplaincy in the Anglican Diocese in Europe, in association
with the Intercontinental Church Society. We started in 1984 as a
small group of people holding a monthly service in the Eglise Reformé
in Fontainebleau supported by Saint Michael's in Paris. We have grown
from this simple wish of a few to worship together to flourishing
small but active community with our own church. We warmly welcome
people from all nations to share with us in worship at Saint Aspais.
We are strongly committed to Biblical teaching and prayer.
Missionary commitment is a regular and definite part of the life of
this church. We are financed entirely through voluntary Christian
giving, through plate collections, envelopes and standing orders.
If you are visiting Fontainebleau we shall be very pleased to welcome
you and ask that you pray for us when you return home. It's encouraging
to know that people are praying for us all over the world. If you
know someone who is coming out to Fontainebleau, do tell them about
us.
Vision
Our Calling
We seek to glorify God, by responding to his grace in prayer and worship,
by encouraging each other to learn and to grow in our love of God
and one another, by serving the community, and by enabling people
to become like Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit
Our Foundation
From our foundation as an Anglican Church ministering
to English-speaking people, we have grown as a community of faith
taking strength from the diversity of many different nationalities
and church backgrounds.
As the body of Christ, we seek to grow in our own personal relationship
with Jesus in order to glorify God through:
-
PRAYER
that is at the heart of our private and public lives,
-
WORSHIP
that is varied, meaningful and engaging
-
TEACHING
that enables individual growth and nurtures the whole church,
-
SERVICE
that uses the God given gifts of our members, mindful of the needs
of the community in which we live,
-
OUTREACH
that takes seriously peoples need to encounter the risen Christ,
-
FELLOWSHIP
that establishes a safe and loving community of grace,
-
a
WELCOME that values everyone and respects peoples differences.
Sunday teaching programme
The two
morning services and the evening service share a theme. Teaching is
Bible-based and is usually part of a series on a particular topic
or on a book from the Bible.
The morning service on the third Sunday of each month is for all the
family and teaching is particularly suited to young people and children.
At all other morning services, the children have their own youth activities
in other rooms.
Occasionally we have visiting preachers from other countries or other
denominations.
Sunday fellowship.
Other activities and services
Weekday
activities include Homegroups, the ALPHA course, Singing Group, Worship
Team, Women's Bible study, and various social events.
Seasonal Services: Various Christmas services including a traditional
Carol Service.
Various Easter and Holy Week services.
Weddings, baptisms, confirmation, funerals; preparation for marriage,
baptism and confirmation. The Chaplain is also available to give pastoral
support and arrange for counselling where appropriate.
